New animation series daily on TV at NPO Zappelin!
Ellie the Ellie brings friendly, inclusive and fun episodes for children of pre-school age. They can learn how wonderful the world of Ellie the Ellie is and how she solves problems with thoughtful ideas designed to include all of her friends, even when they have difficulties because of their own individual capabilities. We learn that everyone has a different way to bloom and that everyone can be included to enjoy the fun. Each episode ends with a catchy sing-along song that repeats the story in a fun way. Ellie the Ellie is a character for young children (0-4). The new 26 x 6 minute series will be shown daily on TV at the Dutch public broadcatser NPO Zappelin from October 2024! In 2025, the new series will also be shown on the Belgian public broadcaster Ketnet and on the Swedish public broadcaster SVT Barn.

In non-spoken short, funny animations, children can experience the world of Ellie the Ellie. The episodes are full of funny sounds and humor. The design of Ellie the Ellie and the audio are very attractive for toddlers, preschoolers and babies, but hey… it’s actually fun for young and old!

Origin and future
Ellie was created by the Dutch designer Ellen Langendam – creator of the popular characters Nurdys (Studio 100). Ellen was asked to supervise 3 students from Media College Amsterdam. They focused on creation, theory and practice and they brought life into Ellie the Ellie to life. Ellen then made 20 scripts and the first series of short animations (shorts/minisodes) was created. These shorts are broadcasted on TV at NPO Zappelin from March 2020.
New Series
To take Ellie the Ellie to the next level, Ellen joined forces with animators Rowdy Huiswoud (RowToons) and Luc Adriaens (ToonHouse). A new format was created in which the series has been given content with a powerful message: by telling stories about equality and justice with Ellie the Ellie in the lead role, we reach young children and can convey a clear message of inclusivity. We show an inclusive world where attention to individual qualities, cooperation and respect play a role.
Music and voice-over
All original music in the series was written by bassist/singer/composer Phaedra Kwant. Phaedra is a well-known and versatile Dutch musician who works in the highest musical circles of the jazz, pop and theater scene in the Netherlands. Phaedra provides the music and 26 original songs for the new series. The songs appeal to a wide audience. Phaedra also provides the voice-over for the series. The full-fledged new series of 26 x 6 minutes can be seen daily on TV at The Dutch public broadcaster NPO Zappelin from October 2024! In 2025, the new series can also be seen on the Belgian public broadcaster VRT Ketnet and on the Swedish public broadcaster SVT Barn.
